HISTORY OF GLASS
A SMALL EXAMPLE
ARTESANO decorative glass has always been a good ally of the architect throughout history.
It has provided us with product solutions, many of which are necessary for our daily lives.
From small kitchen utensils such as glasses, plates, jugs, knives, jugs, to more technical products such as tables, doors, windows, flooring, interior cladding, to many others with more specific technical characteristics such as façade systems or even parts of aerospace ships.
If we focus on its artisanal composition, projects where glass appears as the main actor to form decorative and functional compositions have marked milestones in the world of architecture.
An example of this are two architectural gems:
CASA GOMIS – LA RICARDA
Project carried out by the Spanish architect Antonio Bonet Castellana, a clear example of collaboration between the two.
In this case, ceramics and glass coexist in perfect harmony to create part of the exterior walls and create pleasant plays of light and dark through translucent colored glass.

THE CASA BATLLÓ
A masterpiece by the architect, designer, artist and a whole host of other adjectives, Antoni GaudÃ, where one of the greatest expressions of what handcrafted and personal glass is all about is represented.
Gaudà knew perfectly how to squeeze out the essence of the materials, taking advantage of their properties to decorate and illuminate the entire house.
Its hardness and durability on the façade, its shine and reflection of light to illuminate rooms or the combination of materials to decorate and transmit sensations both on the façade and in the interior, are clear examples of symbiosis between glass and architecture.
In the case of NOVACEF, and following in the footsteps of these jewels, there have been many decorative stained glass windows, leaded glass, decorative relief pieces and custom creations that have given experience and meaning to our know-how.

Glass is versatile in terms of its format.
We have done projects ranging from 1 cm tiles in 10 colours, randomly distributed to form an image, to ceiling panels that form 1×2 m curves or 2×4 m single glass dividing walls.
The limit is set by your creativity and obviously the gap where we have to insert the glass.
